Wolf

Wolves and Parents!

Happy Birthday Boy Scouts of America!!!  Yes February is the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts - that is why we have ou Blue and Gold banquet in February.  I ope everyone had a good time at the Pinewood Derby, everyone's cars looked great and I personally want to thank the Wehmans for coordinating the Derby this year.  Remember the District Pine wood Derby in on March 13th @ Tolbert Elementary.  Anyone from the Pack can go, it is a $7 dollar entry fee and everyone who participates will get a district patch for their red vest.  It should be a good time.

We've got our next Den Meeting on Thursday the4th of February at the Ball's Bluff Elementary Cafeteria at 7:00pm. We're on the home stretch for getting our Wolf badge!  There is one scout whose parents has let me know that he is done with all the Achievements 1-9 (Good job Grant!)  We are going to be working on #9 -Be safe at home and on the street.  If I could ask that 9b and 9c be done at home (those are the keep your house safe achievements) we'll do the safe biking parts at school.  If your scout has a bike helmet, they can bring it to the meeting and wear them as we learn the hand signals- we'll make a game of it.

The Cub Master is trying to get all the awards ready for the Blue and Gold Banquet (27 February) so we get our final beads and the two scouts that have earned their Bobcat Badge will get them then as well. If your son has done any electives that start on page 109 of the book -let me know.  If the boys complete 10 electives they get a gold arrow point to wear on their uniform, for every 10 after that they get a silver one.  We've done a couple of the electives so far in the Den -but you are free to do them at home - just let me know so the boys get credit for them we'll probably hand our the arrow points at the crossover ceremony in June, but it helps to keep track of them now!.  Also - if your Scout has completed any of the requirements for a belt loop - see the newsletter for a listing of the new belt loops that have been approved - yes there is one for video games - but it's not what you think!  If you can start keeping track of what the boys have done - we'll hand out their beads and belt loops at the Blue and Gold Banquet.

If you have any suggestions for games or activities - let me know.  Thanks for continuing to keep bringing the boys to the meetings and doing all the stuff at home.  The Cub Scout program doesn't work with out the parents helping out and I just wanted you to know I really appreciate your efforts!  Thanks again and I'll see you on Thursday!

Yours in Scouting,

Greg Johnson
